Registered Finnsheep
As I was lucky enough to be raised in the country I always imagined one day having a farm to raise my children on. It was pure luck when this opportunity came our way sooner than we could have ever hoped, one could say it was fortuitous! We were actually not even looking to move at the time as we had many other things on our plate, including our fast approaching wedding, But when this opportunity came our way we couldn't pass it up. So we jumped in with both feet.
It was the perfect way for us to start our life together, of course there were challenges along the way but so far we have managed to learn from and overcome them all. Since starting our adventure we have continued to grow the family and farm. We have two beautiful children that always keep us on our toes, as well as two Great Danes, 5 farm cats, a small flock of ducks, chickens, geese, six goats, a hedge hog, a snake and of course our flock of Finnsheep. In 2020 we added a jersey heifer to the mix, hopefully she will become a great milk cow but time will tell.
Ever since I was little I have had a love for animals, from rescuing birds in the back yard to bringing stray cats home, and the occasional snake much to my Mom's distress. And although my family only had sheep for a very very short time while I was young, I have always known I would love to have them again. Thankfully my husband has been wonderful in indulging my whims and we decided this was worth a try. What a darling hey?! My family still farms, but grain and cattle, so when we decided to go with sheep the ribbing was relentless!
Beautiful weather, and our beautiful loving (most days) children
Settling our ducklings in. We are growing this flock as well. Hopefully this August our new birds will arrive.
We have only a few bottle babies which has been good and my daughter has decided all of them are her babies. Polly and Dot will be added to our flock.
This little fella has decided that our dog is going to make a good replacement Mom
There is always something needing attention on the farm. New roof, new fire pit area new gardens, its never dull!
Everyone is excited about the lamb crop this year! 2019
